This New Year is starting off bittersweet for us here in the ODAM camp.
On one hand, the band has never been stronger! We’ve been playing shows regularly in the CT and RI area, writing more ass-kicking and engaging music, meeting new and talented bands, and making contacts with totally selfless and completely awesome show promoters who help keep the independent music scene alive! For this, we could not be happier.
But we’ve taken a major hit, as well. Longtime band mate and friend Jon Collard has decided to leave ODAM to focus on his family and other areas of his life. Jon has been a part of this band since the beginning working his magic on bass, bringing the songs to life with his vocals, and being a major creative contributor. He’ll be greatly missed, but we all wish him well and hope he finds what he’s looking for.
Of Dreams And Madness will persevere, though! We’ve made contact with some incredibly talented musicians who have agreed to fill-in during Jon’s absence until we find someone to replace him permanently. If any of you are or know a bassist looking for a metal band with high ambitions, drop us a line!
10 bucks gets you the 10 song CD – including the popular Gloria Estefan Metal Medley! And if you order through the band’s Website or MySpace, you’ll get FREE STICKERS as well!!!
Well, no, he’s not old… Hell, we’re all 15 again when we enter that band room. What I mean is he’s just not really new to the band.
OF DREAMS AND MADNESS is as happy as filthy pigs in fresh shit to welcome back from the dirge-past, DARYL “inunsane” LAPERLE.
For the past month we’ve been working together to give OD&M a little boost of adrenaline. Daryl will be sharing the microphone with Jon and stepping up as the band’s frontman. The love juices are flowing strong at rehearsals, and we think everyone will enjoy product of our copulations.
For those unfamiliar with OD&M’s history, Daryl was part of the band back in ’98 -’00 (I think that’s right?) when they were known as DIRGE. Having been hugely influential on the band’s sound during those early years, he’s remained a close friend. And, last year he was invited to guest on the band’s album – you can hear his signature scream in the song EXIT WOUND.
So there you have it! We’re really looking forward to sharing our music with you all, so stay tuned for more news & show info coming soon!
Alas, the debut album from OF DREAMS AND MADNESS is here!!!
That's right...after all the talk, the anxiously awaited CDs have finally arrived! For $10, the CD will be available for sale at ODaM shows, the sales section of this website, CDBaby.com, and select music stores. Sales should begin through said vendors after the official release party gigs in August!
...So for now, come to the CD RELEASE PARTIES in RI & CT (being booked now!) for the first chance to get the album!
The RI date is set for Aug 31 @ KC's Tap - See you there!
Just a quick update while we all anxiously await the release of the new CD (coming soon, we promise!).
First, to explain a little about the Vocalist Audition advertisement that’s been up on the site for a while now: DON’T WORRY…Jon Collard is still VERY much a part of the band, and the band is VERY much alive! But, we have decided to keep our options open to include a full-fledged frontman. We’re just looking to grow as a band – and being a bit proactive about it. If the right singer comes along that will help us rock you all a little harder, well then bring ‘em on!
In other news, we’ve just unveiled a MySpace page for the band! Check it out: www.MySpace.com/OfDreamsAndMadness . Join our friends list to stay on top of all ODaM news, including Shows, Album Info, and More!
Finally, thank you all for letting us know about the message board problems. Mike is on top of it, and it should be up and running again – spam free – in the next few days.
CD OUT SOON… STAY TUNED FOR ALBUM INFO & GIG/RELEASE PARTY DETAILS!!!!!!!!!
Well folks, the first Of Dreams & Madness album is officially done! ...For our part, at least.
We had good time last Thursday with renowned engineer Dana White at Specialized Mastering Studios. A real cool guy, he did a great job making our CD sound as big and loud as anything commercially produced. We're very pleased with the sound of it!
So, the package will be sent out this week to the duplication company... And soon, they will send us back 1,000 shiny CDs with our name on them, which we will be happy to share with you - for a price :-)
We'll let you know when it all happens, just keep checking this site. Until then, go pick up the new TOOL album and enjoy!
He-Man was such a queen, but completly owned in 1986!
So, last Wednesday we finished the last of the mixing, thus ending our time at Newcastle Sound Studios. It was a great 4+ months there, but we're glad to be done as we're very busy putting the final details together for the CD.
April 27th we'll be heading to Specialized Mastering to do - you guessed it - mastering. The next day we hope to ba able to send everything off to Oasis CD Duplication to have the album pressed.
You can look forward to a late May/early June release!
The recording of ODaM's first CD is now complete! After over 4 months of weekly (more or less) sessions, the band has officially entered into the mixing stage.
Mixing should only take another 2 weeks and then the CD's Mastering can take place. Then at last, the album can enter the final stage: Pressing.
The band will be annoucing the anticipated release date in the coming weeks. Check back soon for more info about... well, everything.
Two more tunes were finalized during last night's session. Collard was dead-on with his performance and pulled off a wicked counterpoint section that filled the board to the studio's tracking capacity. Fuckin' Rock.
Wednesday the 15th we go back and finish vocals for the last two songs.
More news on ODaM: the band, the album, and more to be revealed in the coming weeks. Till then... \m/
Progress is coming along steadily in the studio. Our January 25th session saw the completion of all the guitars and 99% of the drum and percussion loose-ends. Vocals are on a temporary halt while Jonzar recovers from the flu. He only has 3 songs left...the end is near! Next stop: March 1st.
FYI:
This is no cheap demo! There will be 10 tunes on this CD. And better yet, the sound quality is professional grade. We have pro artwork ready to be sent to Oasis for mass duplication. We are very excited to be able to offer this kind of product!
Feel free to contact the band for more information.
Happy New Year all! We hope you enjoyed the holidays. Granted, the possibility to give ODaM CDs as presents to everyone you know was not an option, but we're working on that.
Wednesday, January 11th we were back at Newcastle tweeking some more vocals. Though Collard was fighting a cold, noone will ever be able to tell - his performance was impecable, albeit slightly shorter than usual.
The plan is to return in a mere week to battle the beast some more. We're all getting very excited hearing how the songs have come together - it's better than we imagined thanks to producer Randy.
Jonzar kicked some serious ass in the studio this past Monday. He sang and screamed for over 4 hours with almost no breaks (thanks to Mike and his excellent water-pouring skills).
Anyway, the vocals are now at the half point as the songs Exit Wound, Gloria, and Aiming Wanderlessly are now complete. Following the holidays, work will continue on vocals for 5 more tunes and some final intrumentation loose-ends will be tied up.
Here's a short clip of what Of Dreams and Madness was working on in the studio last night... It hasn't all been mixed yet, but you can download the clip.
We had 2 more blocks of studio time this week - which means we're on our 6th seesion - and the progress is coming along nicely. We're now over the halfway point! There's just 1 more tune to do the bass and gutars for...and then the vocals...then that's it! (Basically...) Anyway, the adventure continues this coming Wednesday. In the mean time, we've got 2 shows lined up and some new material to unveil... Hope to see you all then!
We had another great session at Newcastle Sound this past Monday. We didn't quite do everything we wanted to finish due to some annoying technical problems (well, we sucked too, but it's better for our egos to blame the technology). But it just takes time, we're really focusing on doing things right and getting everything perfect...and everything DOES sound great! We're very happy with our engineer/producer, Randy. He's right there on the same page as us and knows his stuff. This was definately the studio to go to.
We go back Nov 28th and 30th...which gives us a little breathing room to nitpick everything we've done so far. We still have lots of guitars to do (solos, extra rhythms, acoustics... it will be awesome), so that will probably be the focus. Check back often, we'll let you know how it's going.
Well, our first studio sessions are now complete. Over the last two days we finished all the drum tracks and a little over half of the basic guitar and bass tracks. It was a lot of hard work and definately some frustration, but it has been awesome! The next phase is happening this coming Monday, November 14th. We'll be finishing the rhythm tracks, starting the real overdubs, and doing some vocals. More updates soon...
Of Dreams and Madness will be going to NewCastle Sound studio on November 8th and 9th to start recording a full length album. The hope is to get most of the main rhythm tracks recorded in those two days and go back a week or two later and do all the vocal tracks and overdubs. But we'll see how that goes. We will keep you posted!
We are still alive!!! As pointed out by Dan in our forum, this site hasn't had a news update in a while. So here is one.
The band has been practicing heavily and writing new material. We're getting tighter every week. Maybe when we can get the recording equipment in the band room working again, I'll post an mp3 for you to enjoy. The new tune we just finished ROCKS!
On another note: I've been cleaning up the site a little bit, and also implemented Gravatars on the site in the forum and on any comment page. If you don't have a gravatar already, I suggest you get one. They're über cool!
Now that the band's back together, I decided to let the site out of the bag. Check it out. Lots of time went into the development of this site, so I hope you like it.
If you find anything that's out of wack, just let me know on the 'Contact' page.
Well...now that Jon's baby is getting old, Of Dreams and Madness are once again regularly getting together to get as tight as they once were. Expect to see them starting to gig in a town near you!
